Ashley Rinberger

I was was born and raised in Arlington, Texas. When I graduated from high school, I moved to St. Augustine, Florida with my parents. After a year and a half, I moved back to Texas, for school. While in Texas, I met and married my husband, Mark, in 2008. Together we served in an apartment ministry for a little over a year when we decided to move to Lafayette, Louisiana to be closer to family. During our time in Louisiana we had our son, Jonah, in 2011. As a family, we started taking our vacations to St. Augustine to visit my parents, and of course, the beach. During our vacations, we realized how much we really loved this city. After a lot of prayer and tough decisions, we moved to St. Augustine in 2015. Our first Sunday at Homeport we knew this was where we were supposed to be. We immediately felt welcomed and at home. I started volunteering in the Preschool class and then in the Kids Worship class. I find so much joy in teaching our children and youth and coming alongside other parents to do life with. In the summer of 2018, I transitioned from volunteering into the role of Family Life Director. I’m so excited to be able to do what I love and to serve God by serving the families here at Homeport!

Who or What has been a great influence in your life?

I would say my grandparents have been a big influence on my life.  When I moved back to Texas for school I lived with my grandparents.  In those two years, I grew closer to my grandparents and I got to see how they interacted with each other and how they kept each other accountable.  Every morning before they would go to work, they would sit and have breakfast together and read aloud from the Bible together.  They really showed me what it meant to be a couple on fire for God.

What is your favorite music?

This is a really hard question for me.  I enjoy all types of music from classical piano and jazz to country.  Right now my most played on my playlist are songs from Rend Collective.  I really enjoy their sound.

What books inspire you?

I really enjoy reading books by C.S. Lewis from the Chronicles of Narnia to The Screwtape Letters.  My Grandmother would read The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe to me whenever I would go on long trips with them and now I am reading it with my son.

What is your favorite food?

Texas BBQ (It has to be Texas, because Texas is the best LOL), Mexican Food (there are too many good dishes to name just one), and Chicken and Sausage Gumbo.

What is your favorite movie or TV show?

My favorite TV show is The Office.  Whenever I don’t know what to watch, I turn on an episode of The Office and I’m never disappointed.

What do you do in your spare time? What is a little known fact about you?

Spare time, what’s that? LOL.  When I do have spare time, you can find me hanging out with my family.  As a family we love to go swimming, play miniature golf, go bowling, or go to the beach.

Little Known Fact… I can’t play baseball because I catch and throw with the same hand LOL.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about serving.  I always want to help wherever I can.

What is your favorite quote?

‘If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.” Martin Luther King JR.
